Jesus Romero learned all the secrets of his food from his family, especially his grandmother who spent a large part of her life in Gandia (Valencia). The times that they cooked paella were probably the most memorable for him as they would gather around the paella and watch each step of how it was cooked.
They laughed, drank, danced, discussed, argued and connected with each other in a way that has kept them close throughout the years. He felt that this experience was invaluable and wanted to share it with others. No need to go to a fancy restaurant.

Over the years, Social Paella has competed and won over the palates of judges and crowds alike in various Paella contests under the leadership of Executive Chef Jesus Romero. Most recently in 2017, we placed 1st for Best Freestyle Paella in the 3rdannual Los Angeles Paella, Wine & Beer Festival. Additionally, Jesus Romero and our Social Paella team traveled to Valencia, Spain in 2017 to compete in the 57th annual International Paella Valenciana contest where we took 4th place. We were also awarded Best Paella Valenciana at the 2017 San Diego Paella & Wine Festival. 2nd Best Free Style Paella at the 4th Paella Festival in San Diego 2018.
